Event Description:
Members of the Morristown Community Health Committee receive a proclamation from Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty at the Town Council meeting Aug. 7. MORRISTOWN - The 23rd annual Community Health Day will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Headquarters Plaza.
Free health screenings will be offered along with nutrition information, healthy snacks, children’s activities, balloons, face painting, senior resources, prayer room, zumba demonstration, raffle prizes, music and workshops.
No registration is required for the health screenings, such as glucose, foot, cholesterol, vision, blood pressure, HIV, hearing, bone density, oral cancer, balance, respiratory and dental for children ages 1-12.
The event is sponsored by Morristown Medical Center, Church of God In Christ For All Saints, Calvary Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church, St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, First Baptist Church of Madison, Angels In Action, Morris County Chapter of The Links, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Bethel AME Church of Morristown. It is supported by the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center.
The Links will hold an annual Walkathon in support of Community Health Day, with walkers leaving Goryeb Children Hospital at Morristown Medical Center at 8 a.m. and arriving at Headquarters Plaza on Speedwell Avenue by 9 a.m.
