1995Developer proposes first new apartment building in 30 years: Chancery Square on Cattano Avenue
* The high-end unit apartments cannot get private funding without state guarantee because investors skeptical of Morristown supporting expensive upscale apartments.

May 1996 Morristown Partners, Inc. obtains 501(c)3 tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service

1997 Chancery Square Opens
* Hailed as the catalyst to the revitalization and redevelopment of Morristown, the building proves a huge success by filling 70% before opening.
* Project marks the first public-private development partnership with the Morristown Parking Authority and introduces the concept of shared parking to downtown Morristown.

1999 Morristown Named by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ TRANSIT as a Transit Village * The Transit Village Initiative creates incentives for municipalities to redevelop or revitalize the areas around transit stations using design standards of transit-oriented development (TOD). TOD helps municipalities create attractive, vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods where people can live, shop, work and play without relying on automobiles.

2000 Morristown Partnership takes on the beloved ‘Christmas on the Green’ as one of its community events.
* The Partnership invests over $100,000 in infrastructure of the Morristown Green and programming to guarantee the legacy of the event.

2002 Century 21 Department Store leases One North Park Place, former home of Macy’s Department Store.

2003 Epstein department store’s property owner creates joint venture with Rosewood and Woodmont Properties to redevelop the department store site and adjacent properties.

2005 The Headquarters Plaza Hotel rebrands and transforms to Hyatt Morristown.

2006 Demolition begins in October 2006 on the landmark Epstein s Department Store and the adjacent Maple Avenue parking deck as the town of Morristown embarks on two of its most significant new construction projects in almost three decades.

2007 Morristown Partnership regains control over the Morristown Farmers Market investing marketing dollars into the promotion of the downtown amenity. The Sunday Market sees an increase in foot traffic and begins to support the idea of businesses opening on Sundays to enjoy the benefits of more people in downtown Morristown for leisure.

2008 Morristown Parking Authority completes Morristown’s first LEED certified silver building adjacent to a new 800 space parking deck. The four-story class A office space supports unique operational elements including a two-story bio-wall and geo-thermal wells attached to the building’s HVAC system.

2009 Highlands at Morristown Station
Although not a formal redevelopment area, the Highlands at Morristown Station was constructed as part of a competitive process sponsored by the Town of Morristown and New Jersey Transit. As part of the planning process, the Town of Morristown adopted the Transit Village Core (TVC) zoning district along Morris Street that permits higher densities and mixed-uses around the train station. Opened in 2009, the Highlands contains 218 apartments, 8,000 square feet of retail space and a 722 space parking garage.

2014 Mayo Performing Arts Center completes renovations at the front of the house, altering the façade for the first time.

2015 Hampshire Cos.’s 42,000-square-foot building for Fox Rothschild law firm breaks ground ushering in the First Class A office space constructed in decades.

2017 Several developments begin the municipal planning board process, ushering in the next great wave of investment.
