WHAT IS THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (SID)?
As the Special Improvement District (SID) of Morristown, the Morristown Partnership is a nonprofit organization that works with key downtown stakeholders – such as property owners, retailers, residents, government leaders, and community organizations – to advance our collective vision for the future of downtown Morristown.
MISSION: TO HELP MORRISTOWN ACHIEVE ITS FULL POTENTIAL AS A PREMIER COMMUNITY IN WHICH TO LIVE, WORK, PLAY, SHOP AND DO BUSINESS
HOW DOES THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP DEFINE THE “SID?”
The Morristown Partnership, through municipal ordinance, defines the SID as specific block and lots on the following streets:
High Street Court
Martin Luther King Avenue
Mount Kemble Avenue
The Morristown Partnership provides advocacy and direct services to the boundary within that area defined by the Special Improvement District. The SID is roughly bordered by the one mile radius of the Morristown Green.
The Morristown Partnership receives approximately 50% of its funding via commercial property special assessments per municipal ordinance. Assessments are collected quarterly by the Town of Morristown. Morristown Partnership fundraises the remaining 50% of its annual budget through private donations, corporate sponsorships, event participations fees and collaborative advertising initiatives. The SID Assessment is calculated by multiplying the properties’ total assessed value by the SID rate (.105%) less any proration determined by the Tax Assessor.
Formula to determine your estimated annual SID payment:
Net Taxable Value (Land Value + Improvement Value) x .00105 = Annual SID Payment
