  • CAN THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP TELL ME HOW MUCH MONEY I OWE IN SID ASSESSMENT?

    A: No, The Town of Morristown collects assessments paid to the SID along with taxes paid to the Town itself. Questions should be directed to the Tax Collector’s office at (973) 292-6669



  • WHO SHOULD I CALL WHEN PROBLEMS ARISE WITH IN THE SID?

    A: Call 911 immediately for response to all crimes and emergencies in progress.

    Call Morristown Police non-emergency line (973) 538-2200 promptly to report all crimes that have already occurred – or crimes not currently in progress. This may include property crimes or vandalism, graffiti, crimes against people, public order difficulties and more.

    When you are in doubt about where to call, call 911 and let the trained operator determine how to route your call and deploy appropriate resources.

  • HOW DOES THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP HELP PROMOTE BUSINESS?

    A: The Morristown Partnership’s staff participates in all planning initiatives that affect downtown’s business climate. This includes plans for everything from regional transportation systems to neighborhood redevelopment projects.  We act as a liaison between businesses and policy makers to ensure all voices are heard and plans promote positive growth of downtown’s retail, commercial, and residential markets.



  • CAN THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP MAKE RULES FOR THE DOWNTOWN?

    A: No, only the Morristown Town Council can make rules for downtown. The Morristown Partnership has facilitated many community stakeholder groups to study issues affecting downtown. Out of these have come recommendations to the Town Council for new ordinances, and revisions to existing ordinances.



  • CAN THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP RESOLVE ISSUES WITH THE TOWN OF MORRISTOWN AND ITS INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENTS?

    A: Yes. The Morristown Partnership prides itself on its advocacy role and its ability to work with the various town departments. While the Morristown Partnership can’t solve all challenges, often the Morristown Partnership staff know just who to call to get a job done quickly or get a question answered.



  • IS THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP PART OF THE TOWN OF MORRISTOWN?

    A: No, the Morristown Partnership is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a District Management Corporation (DMC). The Morristown Partnership has a good working relationship with the Town. This enables the organization to work as an advocate for downtown as well as work through challenges quickly for its constituents, the downtown property and business owners.



  • CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP IF I’M NOT A MEMBER?

    A: Yes. The Morristown Partnership offers many sponsorship advertising and participation opportunities to businesses looking to reach the greater Morristown community.



  • WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP?

    A: Over 500 commercial properties and their tenants are members of the Morristown Partnership. Downtown property owners within the boundaries of the SID are automatically assessed through a quarterly tax bill from the municipality.  We include commercial tenants within these properties in our membership.

    A: Morristown Partnership is a full-time advocate for downtown supporting initiatives that increase the value and vitality of the area including economic development initiatives in areas of redevelopment, business recruitment and retention, marketing, creative placemaking, promotions, events and capital improvement projects.

    In addition, Morristown Partnership provides direct services for downtown including:

    • Shop local and gift certificate programs
    • Retail recruitment and site selection support services
    • Business networking events
    • Star Ledger and NJ.com partnership promoting Morristown through print and digital publications year-round. (Only community in New Jersey to partner with supplemental publications.)
    • Production of the annual community events including: Morristown Restaurant Week, Meet Me in Morristown, Morristown Farmers Market, Morristown Festival on the Green, Downtown Morristown Halloween Trick or Treat, Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green


  • HOW IS THE MORRISTOWN PARTNERSHIP FUNDED?

    A: The Morristown Partnership receives approximately 50% of its funding via commercial property special assessments per municipal ordinance. Assessments are collected quarterly by the Town of Morristown. Morristown Partnership fundraises the remaining 50% of its annual budget through private donations, corporate sponsorships, event participations fees and collaborative advertising initiatives.  The SID Assessment is calculated by multiplying the properties’ total assessed value by the SID rate (.105%) less any proration determined by the Tax Assessor.

    Formula to determine your estimated annual SID payment:

    Net Taxable Value (Land Value + Improvement Value) x .00105 = Annual SID Payment

  • ARE LICENSES AND PERMITS TRANSFERABLE TO NEW OWNERSHIP?

    No, with a change of ownership or change of business, the new owner is required to contact the Town of Morristown to obtain the necessary approval, inspection and license permit prior to operation.



  • DOES THE TOWN OF MORRISTOWN PROVIDE RECYCLING OR WASTE MANAGEMENT TO COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES OR PROPERTIES?

    No. The Town of Morristown does not provide solid waste or recycling pick-up. It is recommended to contract with your business neighbors’ haulers to improve pick-up logistics.

    Recycling is Mandatory in Morristown.

    The Town of Morristown’s Lake Road Recycling Center, located at 90 Lake Road is open to all residents, schools, institutions, hospitals, governments and businesses in the Town of Morristown. There is NO CHARGE for recycling of mixed paper, glass, plastic, electronics or metals. Residents (proof of Morristown residency required) and businesses may drop off recycling during our hours. Brush and branches may also be dropped off at the center.

    Yes! Businesses meeting the requirements of the municipal ordinance can apply for a sign permit through the Zoning office at the Town of Morristown, 200 South Street, Second Floor.

    Remember to bring:
