RINA ASEMAMAW

Feleke Realty LLC / 89-93 Martin Luther King Avenue

Rina Asemamaw is a Morristown resident, mom, business, and property owner. As a resident and a business owner, I know our small business community, our vibrant downtown, and our families are at the heart of this town. That is why I make it a priority to know my customers and my neighbors.

I would like to serve on the Morristown Partnership Board of Trustees as a way of giving back to the community. I love taking my daughter to South St. for Sunday brunch and for Halloween trick-or-treat or the Morristown Green to see Santa for Christmas. I believe, as Morristown develops into a more dynamic and vibrant town, we need new voices and hands to ensure our small business community continues to thrive. I am ready for the task.

TARA BERNIE

TB Yoga House / 12 Community Place

Thank you for giving me this opportunity. As a small woman owned business in Morristown, I feel I am a great candidate.
I opened TB Yoga House, 12 Community Pl, April 17, 2023. Since that time, I have taught thousands of people in the community who are looking for a place to find peace, healing, mindfulness and of course a great workout. I operate more than just a yoga studio. It has become a hub of happiness and for inclusiveness. I also team up with other local businesses to bring awareness to their wellness service. Please take a look at my Instagram @tbyogahouse to see all of the great work I am doing in the community. I want to make this happen on a larger scale.

I would like to serve on the MPBT to further expand the wellness outreach in Morristown. I have many ideas on how to make this happen, through special events, networking, content creation and strategic promotion. Lets create a Studio crawl or a wellness day on the green or affordable fitness programs and more!
Also, I am a huge proponent of bringing in new businesses that could help change and shape the local business landscape. I visit many other towns on Sunday drives and say “wow this is what Morristown needs”. I would work with the planning board and outreach to help bring new business to Morristown.
Finally, as a business owner, I know what is needed to keep up cleanliness and parking. Example: I need a garbage can located on Community Pl, so my flower planters aren’t used for empty yogurt cups and beer bottles. But not only that I want to help other owners have the best experiences at their locations.

I have lived in Morristown for almost 21 years and have witnessed its ups and downs. We are on an up with all of the people and large businesses moving here, we can make their experience the best possible by coming together to do great things!
I hope you will consider me for a seat at the table.
Thank you and shanti!
Tara

AMANDA BOWSER

Learning Express Toys of Morristown / 158 South Street

Hi, my name is Amanda Bowser, I am the manager of Learning Express Toys of Morristown. I am a proud MHS alum and have ten years of retail experience here in town. As a member of the retail community, I am active in forming relationships and communication with other business in town as well as bringing issues to the Morristown Town Council.

As a member of the Morristown Beautiful Board, I am committed to Morristown’s cleanliness and welcoming environment.

I look forward to the opportunity to join the Morristown Partnership Board and aiding in committees relating to marketing and driving the mission to Think Local, Shop Morristown.

CRISTINA DIGIACOMO

Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Morristown / 140 Morris Street

I am excited and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve on the Morristown Partnership Board of Trustees. I have witnessed firsthand how engaged and passionate the residents and businesses can be, and there is still a great deal of untapped potential waiting to be revealed. I want to see Morristown thrive, and by fostering significant community engagement, ensure its continued growth and success.

Coming from a creative industry, I aim to bring a fresh, innovative take that will inspire all members of the community to get out and experience everything this beautiful town has to offer. I have spent years developing fundraisers and local events that bring people together, create meaningful connections, and promote local businesses. Having worked in a very social environment, I am open to conversations about ideas and I am eager to understand the current challenges. I listen and collect input, desiring that our efforts will ultimately lead to events and initiatives that people are truly excited to take part in. My experience has shown me the power of collaboration, and I believe that great things happen when people come together.

I would be honored to contribute my skills, resources, creativity, and passion to the Board, helping to shape the future of Morristown in a way that reflects the needs and aspirations of its businesses, residents and all those wishing to explore this one-of-a-kind destination.
Now more than ever before, it is crucial to stimulate interest in Morristown. The unique, small business landscape defines much of the town’s charm and its preservation must be prioritized. Having worked in this beautiful town for over a decade, I care deeply about Morristown’s future—its rich history, culture, and, most of all, the inclusive community that makes it so special.

SAMANTHA IRACE

Silverman Group / 54–74 South Street

At a very young age, my parents taught me the value of volunteering and giving back within our community. My dad was a recreational coach and borough councilman, and my mom was a PTA president. At a young age while attending my dad’s borough council meetings, I learned how to interact with people and handle issues in a helpful and respectful manner. While attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, I knew I wanted to follow in my parent’s footsteps. I became involved in many clubs and organizations that focused on giving back to the local community. Since graduating and accepting a full-time job in an area very close to where I attended college, I want to continue giving back to a place that is special to me, Morristown. Morristown continues to be a welcoming environment to everyone from college students to seniors and I’d love to be a part of its future growth.

ROBERT J. NISH (I)

Nish & Nish LLC Attorneys / 163 Washington Street

Robert (“Bob”) Nish has practiced law in Morristown with his daughter, Noelle K. Nish, for 20 years. Their offices are located at 163 Washington Street. Prior to that, he worked in Morristown since 1971, with the exception of 2 years, including at his first law office in 1980 at One Madison Avenue.

Bob spent sixteen years as a Morris Township Municipal Court Judge. It has always been a priority for him to contribute to the community and, with that intention, he has spent many years working with both Grow it Green Morristown and the Greater Morristown YMCA. His interests in Morristown also include being a long-time member of Springbrook Country Club where he is an avid paddle tennis player.

Elected to the Morristown Partnership Board in 2022, Bob now volunteers his time for the benefit of the downtown business community via the special improvement district’s initiatives and hopes to do all he can to contribute to the continued success of the downtown.

JEFF RAWDING (I)

A longstanding member of both the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green Building Council, Jeff is committed to elevating the built environment in and around Morristown. He has presented many projects before the town’s Board of Adjustment and Planning Board, contributing to the thoughtful development of the community.

Elected to the Morristown Partnership Board in 2013, Jeff now serves as Vice President and chairs the Built Environment Committee, where he continues to lend his expertise in support of a vibrant downtown.

General Information

Election Information

Self-nominations for five seats on the Morristown Partnership Special Improvement District’s (SID) Board of Trustees are accepted in March of each year, an election is conducted in April.

In order to be listed on the Ballot of Nominees, you must be an SID member (an owner of commercial real estate (Class 1 or 4) that is subject to assessment or the owner of a business, or the authorized representative and employee of an owner of a business, located in an assessed property within the Special Improvement District; specific requirements can be found in the Corporation’s By-Laws).  This would exclude church, governmental, non-profit or owner-occupied residential properties.

Annually, there are five (5) seats available for three-year terms beginning May 1 and ending April 30.

Voting

You are entitled to vote if you are a commercial property owner or business owner paying a special assessment in the Special Improvement District, or the official designee of the property or business owner.

Paper ballots will be mailed and available for download.

Each assessed property has one vote and must be cast by the entity, or entities, which own(s) the property.  Only one ballot may be cast for each such entity.  Each “bona fide” business located within the Special Improvement District (a business with a separate and distinct existence from all other businesses located at the same property) also has one vote.

Ballots must be returned to Morristown Partnership for tabulation, by the League of Women Voters, by the posted deadline.
